RHYL & DISTRICT MOTOR CLUB – RALI GOGLEDD UPDATES
Posted 28 January 2018
With two weeks left until the event, we are pleased to announce that we have received enough entries to make it possible for the event to run. Public Relations work has now been completed and we can confirm that the route remains as planned at 95 miles. We will require the assistance from others who are not competing to come along and assist with marshalling. If you are available to assist, then please contact Jamie Wallis (Chief Marshal) 07565 507495. We look forward to hearing from you.
We thank those who have already entered the event, but we would always welcome more of course. You have until 23:59hrs Sunday 4th February to get your entries in. The route as promised is 100% metalled roads with the exception of three metre controls.
For those who are curious and wanting to see an entry list, the Organising Team have decided that no entry list will be published until the close of entries and seeding completed….. Just like the good old days.
We look forward to seeing you at St.Asaph Leisure Centre

Yokohama A021 tyres
For the competitors who have made enquiries regarding the use of the above tyre, we can confirm that the MSA have today granted Rali Gogledd Cymru 2018 permission based on the below statement. This statement will also be included within the event ASR's
"In accordance with L6, permission is granted for competitors to use Yokohama A021 tyres manufactured before 1st November 2014, which is shown on the sidewall as 4314. Tyres manufactured after this date or with an ineligible manufacturing date are prohibited."
The link below explains the manufacturing dates shown on Yokohama Tyres
This year’s event will once again use some of the best roads on offer on Maps 116 and 117, with straight forward pre-plot navigation in standard section format.
The route offers a complete change from previous years with the event moving to use some areas on Map 117, which haven’t been covered on this event since the late nineties. It also offers approximately 95 miles of challenging route with one section over 12 miles long.
The route will use 100% tarmac roads with the exception of 3 metre controls.
We are offering a very compact route with non-competitive road mileage to a minimum. We anticipate that the first car will finish shortly after 04:30am. Hopefully this format will attract more competitors enabling you all to compete and finish this quality event before sunrise.
Many marshals will be required for our event, so if you are not entering then please consider coming to help and please encourage friends and fellow club members to assist on what we promise will be a challenge for the competitor.
We look forward to welcoming you to the 2018 Rali Gogledd Cymru.
